Pioneer Chapter  Meeting

Toohey's, Savage, MN – 18 November 2000

The November monthly meeting of the EH Rider's Club - Pioneer Chapter was held on Saturday, November 18 at Toohey's in Savage with a solid turnout of about two dozen long-time, new and soon-to-be members present.

There were two main topics covered at the meeting: nomination and election of new officers and the second annual Homecoming Rally dates.

Officer Elections

It's been determined that four officers will be elected at the December meeting to be held at the Copper Kettle in Osseo on December 16, 00 at 9:00 am. The four officers will include Director, Assistant Director, Secretary and Treasurer. To date, nominated candidates for the office of Director includes incumbent Chuck Barsness, Tom Robinson, Bob Capitola and Young Bob Gerhart. The office of Secretary only has incumbent Rick Wawrzyniak nominated and the office of Treasurer has only incumbent Randy Schwandt nominated at this time. Feel free to respond to this email with other nominations. The office of Assistant Director will be filled by the nominee for Director receiving the second most ballots. For those that cannot attend the December meeting, feel free to cast your votes (or nominations) by contacting anyone that will be attending the meeting. We'd like everyone's input that want's their voices heard but with the understanding that, without actually attending the meeting and voting, your ballot will lose it's secrecy to a degree.

With that in mind, a committee has been formed to put together the bylaws of the organization. This will help us to put into place policies and procedures for future elections as well as other club-related activities. If you're interested in being on this committee, let one of the current officers know. The more input we have on this, the better the entire club will be served. As a start, we're gathering information on existing club bylaws. We'll use them as a template and go from there.

The other positions that are listed as officers now (Ride Captain, Asst. Ride Captain, etc.) will be appointed on an as needed basis. It's also been determined that the Historian should remain Tim Leary as long as he's willing to fill that post.

Homecoming 2001 Rally

It's looking more and more like the dates for the 2001 Homecoming Rally will be moving. It was tentatively slated for June 27 through July 1. The main reason for this is that several key people from the factory as well as key organizers from the club will be attending an annual rally in Iowa that weekend. Ideally, we'd like to not overlay with any other major rally. That being said, we'll likely not have it in the middle of June either due to the Laconia Rally. This will be receiving immediate attention at the December meeting and should be resolved by then so that those that need to schedule vacation early in the calendar year can do so.

Other topics

* Pioneer Chapter logo - Mike Hamann continues working on this design. Hopefully, we'll come up with something solid soon so that members can receive t-shirts with their annual membership dues as well as window stickers and possibly other trinkets. * We still have a limited number of Homecoming 2000 t-shirts available for $10 each. At the meeting, we had 1 small, 3 XL and 19 XXL sizes remaining. Contact any current officer if you're interested in one or more of these limited run souvenirs. They're currently in Randy Schwandt's possession and I imagine that he'll bring them to the next meeting. Let him know if you want one and he'll set it aside for you. * There was also some limited conversation regarding the national organization. As the company continues to be run on a very limited budget, no progress has been made on this subject. We'll continue along as we have been as an independent organization that will one day roll up into a national, company sponsored organization.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
